Fernando Torres signed for Liverpool in July 2007 and has been widely recognised as one of the most talented strikers in the Premiership since arriving at Anfield.
Fernando developed in the youth set-up at Atletico Madrid, progressing to the first team where he gained a reputation as a regular goalscorer in La Liga.
He made an immediate impact on joining the Reds, finishing the 2007-08 season as the club's leading scorer with a total of 33 goals in all competitions.
Last term, although affected by injuries, he still managed 14 Premiership goals from just 20 starts while this season has continued in similar vein, with a record of almost a goal a game in Premiership matches and a particularly impressive run from mid-March, with nine goals in a run of seven games.
His injury-time winner against Aston Villa in December meant that became is the quickest Liverpool player to achieve 50 goals for the club. Fernando is much more than a goalscorer.
Blessed with pace, control and the ability to think quickly in the box, he is a great all round striker. His personal honours include being selected for the PFA Premiership Team of the Season for both 2007-08 and 2008-09, and the FIFPro, World XI for 2008 and 2009.
Fernando was a member of the Spain team that won the UEFA U16 title in 2001 and the U19 title 12 months later and made his full international debut in September 2003.
He has now won 81 caps for his country scoring 26 goals and was a mainstay in the Spain teams that won the 2008 European Championships and 2010 World Cup.
